I recently graduated from UCF with a Master's of Spanish with a 4.0 GPA. I pursued a Linguistics concentration within the Master's degree, and my thesis focused on processing dialectal variation in Spanish. Prior to that, I spent three years as an undergraduate at the University of Florida, graduating with a 3.9 GPA with a double major in Spanish and Linguistics. This dual perspective has provided me with a background in language acquisition and teaching that has allowed me to shape my lessons to better suit your needs as a language learner.
Experience
As a non-native speaker of Spanish, I have sat in the same place as you; From my first day in the Spanish 1 classroom as a Freshman in high school to a Master's degree, I have experienced first-hand what is necessary to be a successful language learner. I am extremely passionate about people learning the language to which I have dedicated most of my academic and professional life, so I would love to show you the tricks of the trade! Throughout grad school I worked part time as a Spanish tutor. Thus, I have years of experience tutoring all levels of Spanish, from middle school to the college level and would be able to provide references upon request. My approach to tutoring is to follow the class in its progression and develop new activities tailored to the weaknesses of each student based upon the content that both challenge and reinforce what is being learned. This helps prevent mindless repetition and also allows the student to see the content in a variety of contexts. As language learning is all about exposure, the more varied the contexts a concept is viewed, the easier it clicks.

Hobbies
When not walking my dog or studying for my Ph.D., I enjoy sewing, reading, and traveling.
