Since High School I have dedicated my studies and after school curricula to the study of Journalism and Editing. While most of my experience in journalism deals with writing and news-page creation, my education focuses mainly on the importance of grammar and editing, and on the writing techniques that make the written word clear and accessible to all readers. I live for literature. Fiction stories, the classics and the pulps, have shaped me into the person I am today. My passion for reading and my drive to become a better writer was my only motivation for not only attending, but for graduating college. But as much as I love it, I also understand that reading and writing does not come so easily to everybody. The overwhelming amount of rules concerning the use of language is enough to make anybody volunteer for organic chemistry instead of a grammar course. Because when the grammar sticklers are bleeding red ink all over your paper and you don't understand why a 350+ page book explains nothing about how to go about killing mockingbirds, it's time to look at English differently. Like in mathematics, there are many ways to go about finding an answer to your class's literature questions. Unlike math, the best part about studying literature is that with a strong supporting argument, there is no wrong answer! So, maybe you just need help figuring out how to find your argument. Or an easier way to read Faulkner. Or maybe you're having trouble getting past that ridiculous five-paragraph rule. Whatever the case, if you've got problems concerning English and Literature, I'm your tutor. I'm not going to tell you how to read or how to write. There's no prescription for learning English.
