I tutor a variety of subjects, however, my favorite subjects to teach are French and English languages. Over the years, I have come to adjust my approach when teaching the beautiful yet difficult subject of French. Textbooks can at times become too wordy, or perhaps an instructor's teaching style doesn't engage the student. My job has been to adjust my lessons to the student's learning style. I use visual or oral cues in the material so the lesson is easier to comprehend. I like discipline; however, I believe encouragement is important as we delve into the intricacies of conjugations. I use the same teaching philosophy with English. The fount of knowledge can be accessed using the right approach. I rely on certain strategies when guiding a student through essay writing and critical reading. There are no "stupid mistakes." I believe we learn through mistakes. I prefer an interactive and encouraging environment. Any student can learn these subjects with the right instruction. I have worked as a writing consultant and French tutor as well as a professional document reviewer. I studied English with a focus in creative writing and music at Rollins College. I like to write poems and stories, take walks at twilight, draw, sing, and play the piano.
