Education

I obtained a B.A., cum laude, in French and Francophone studies from the University of Florida in 2011. I also earned a B.A., summa cum laude, in history, with a focus on 19th century French history. I wrote my senior thesis on the Dreyfus Affair, a political event in 1890s France that tore the French public apart. I received an M.A. in French studies from New York University in 2012. During my studies, I took courses on French urban history, French education, sociology, and political science. My master's degree included taking courses over the summer in Paris.

Bonjour! Je m'appelle Sara, et j'ai étudié le français depuis l'âge de 14 ans. My name is Sara and I began learning French when I was 14 years old. After earning my degrees (see education mentioned above), I lived in France for six years (2013-2019). I moved there to teach English for one year, and ended up teaching English to French students for the next three years. I then continued living in France while working remotely for an English language website. I recently moved back to Orlando to be closer to my family. I would like to tutor because I love French! It brings me joy to talk about words, verbs, conjugations, and how the language works. I look forward to sharing that joy with my students while we learn and grow together. I love to travel! When I lived in France, I traveled to so many countries! Now that I am back in my hometown, I look forward to getting back to my roots and discovering new things in the city. I also love to read! You will always find me with a book. I read fiction and non-fiction on a variety of subjects, including history, politics, economics, and more. You might even find me reading a book in French. Proust, anyone? Podcasts are my passion. I am a loyal subscriber to a countless number of podcasts. We can't be busybodys all of the time! Sometimes I like to relax and watch TV with my cat, Jellybean. He is an orange-and-white European tabby that I adopted in France.
