Currently an English Literature major, with minors in Biology and Psychology at the University of Central Florida. Has also taken courses in Computer Science and Sociology, in addition to courses required for an Associates (which included various courses such as Humanities, Government, Economics, Math, Composition and Rhetoric, Speech, Communications and Speech-related courses, and three semesters of both French as well as Spanish). Associates degree was completed while in high school (thus dual-enrollment experience was obtained), while the rest of the courses were completed as part of the Bachelors program.
Experience
I am currently a tutor with over five years worth of experience, with time spent working within a school setting. I tutor all age ranges and grades from kindergarten to 12th grade, as well as all subjects (except for math courses higher than Algebra 2 -- unless it is Statistics, which I do tutor -- and science courses higher than Chemistry), and the languages of both French and Spanish. I also tutor certain undergraduate and graduate level courses as well, which include psychology and sociology related subjects, most courses required for an Associate's degree, Biology, all English/Literature and composition/rhetoric related courses, as well as help with writing as well as correcting papers (regardless of the subject -- I have worked on papers that ranged from undergraduate level composition to graduate level Engineering and mathematics/sciences. I am also able to do any style of formatting, including but not limited to APA and MLA, et cetera. Papers are one of my specialties). In addition to the aforementioned, I also do test preparation for the SAT and ACT, as well as EOC's, the FSA, TOEFL and IELTS, and even the SSAT, ISEE and CoGAT. Furthermore, I have experience working with ESOL, special needs, ADD/ADHD, Gifted, and so forth. Please feel free to inquire about other subjects that I tutor as well as experience with different learning styles required by students. In addition the various subjects/grade levels/ages I tutor and experience I hold within the field, I also have a certain tutoring style that sets me apart from others. To begin with, I hold a deep passion and adoration for tutoring. It is my motivating force in life, and I am always excited for every session I am able to have with a student. I started my business because I believe that every student, no matter their current GPA or anything else, could use the extra help and support that tutoring provides. Students are generally 1 in a class of 25, typically (for those in K-12; the latter number is usually even higher for those in college), and are only given less than an hour a day in each subject to learn the content required. Because of this, it is hard for educators to tailor the curriculum to the individual needs that every student has, which means that students are given "one-size-fits-all" lessons. While certain students can usually excel in at least one or two, or occasionally all, of their classes, most people generally need individualized help that tutoring provides, or at the very least, could benefit from said individualization but in a way that furthers the understanding as well as expand and elaborates on what is taught inside the classroom (which provides a necessary challenge). My goal as a tutor is to learn how each of my students understands and even perceives information, and use such knowledge to help them excel and/or further what they are taught in school. Furthermore, I strive to ensure that my students not only have a complete and thorough understanding of the desired subject, but also excel and hold a deep understanding in such. In addition, it is because of my deep passion for education and learning as a whole, it is my desire, as well as goal in life, to instill the same passion in each of my students. To complete the aforementioned task, I personalize every lesson I hold with each student and use their unique strengths to match their unique learning style and needs. Also, I provide notes, as well as feedback, tailored to the specific subject and lesson as well as the learning style of the student. Lastly, I make sure I am always available (whether by text, phone call, email, or video chat) to my students (as well as their parents, if applicable) for any help that they may require, even after/in between sessions, which is a service I provide for free. I only associate my name and reputation with the best, and thusly, I guarantee satisfaction and results, as I am that confident in the service I provide. The success of my business is dependent on my reputation and it is because of this that I strive to ensure that my students and their families are pleased with the results of my tutoring. I take a deep pride in my work, and I have the references from both parents as well as students (while it is definitely meaningful and important that the parents I work for are happy with what I do, it is my students who can truly testify to my ability as they are the ones who I complete my sessions with and have the grades and ability to show the level of service I provide) to exemplify such. In the past five years of tutoring, I have yet to have a dissatisfied student (the only objection has been from a review on this website from a random individual who I have never met -- which was still upsetting, since I take such pride in what I do and am so passionate about providing the best service possible!). I do a free consultation, so please message me if at all interested in my services! For more information, please visit my website at EnglishGirlWrites.com
